Reception Book Week 2022

This week the children in Reception have had so much fun celebrating books.

We read the story The Ugly Duckling, which we have really enjoyed. We have learnt the importance of being nice to everyone and we talked about how we didn’t like how the ugly duckling felt sad. The children have really shown empathy towards the cygnet.

We have participated in lots of activities such as role play, painting pictures of the characters, retelling the story using props from our small world, sequencing the story and making masks.

On Tuesday we had a fun visitor, Jo the author, and she told us all about her love of books. We were able to play some fun games using our imagination and we all made up our own stories.

On Friday we all dressed up as our favourite character from a book. We all were so excited and loved wearing our costumes.
